Charlinda and Joy were motivated to create this organization to challenge the marginalization of Black queer creativity in Boston. The Journaling Project exists to center Black queer folks in this space that doesn’t care to and create an archive for Black queer writing everywhere.
Meet your editors
Charlinda Adream Banks (she/her) is a writer and educator currently based in Boston. In her day job, she talks with middle and high school students about movies. Charlinda enjoys reading and writing about family, queerness, and ghosts. She can often be found near a Eucalyptus mint candle.
Ore/Joy (she/they) is a Nigerian born, Maryland raised lesbian that loves curation and community. In addition to exploring their new hobbies of the season™️, she spends a lot of time writing reflective pieces influenced by their love for philosophy and sociology.
